Frequent redirects and repeated logins in the OpenShift Web Console

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • When opening multiple tabs and/or re-opening tabs that were logged in just moments ago, the console is prompting another login. This is most problematic when we have multiple application routes open simultaneously, and the browser may be logging a user out of one tab while the other one stays logged in.
  • There is a custom resource configured for authentication, i.e. we don't use OpenShift's built-in authentication and instead use an external LDAP/AD server.
  • The console pod logs may show the below message:
2020-08-11T13:22:50.610033698Z 2020-08-11T13:22:50Z server: authentication failed: http: named cookie not present
