Why does a live migrating VM end up running in original source host while remaining paused on intended destination host?

Issue

  • A VM starts live migrating from host A to host B but the live migrations fails.
  • VM is resumed in source host A but ends up paused in host B.
  • Why is the VM not destroyed destination host B after the live migration failure?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) 3.2 and 3.3.
  • vdsm version vdsm-4.13.2-0.10.el6ev or earlier.
