libvirt/virsh migrations failing. ( qemuMonitorIO : internal error End of file from monitor)

Issue

  • A virsh migration was performed between two RHEL 6.4 systems, e.g.
# virsh migrate  --live vm01 qemu+ssh://hostb/system
  • It failed with the following message in /var/log/libvirt/libvirtd.log on the source host;
2013-10-15 14:40:59.545+0000: 18569: error : qemuMigrationUpdateJobStatus:990 : operation failed: migration job: unexpectedly failed
  • It failed with the following message in /var/log/libvirt/libvirtd.log on the destination host;
2013-10-15 14:40:44.000+0000: 17819: warning : qemuDomainObjBeginJobInternal:839 : Cannot start job (modify, none) for domain vm01; current job is (none, migration in) owned by (0, 0)
2013-10-15 14:40:44.000+0000: 17819: error : qemuDomainObjBeginJobInternal:843 : Timed out during operation: cannot acquire state change lock
2013-10-15 14:40:59.182+0000: 17818: warning : qemuProcessKill:4122 : Timed out waiting after SIGTERM to process 3353, sending SIGKILL
2013-10-15 14:40:59.972+0000: 17816: error : qemuMonitorIO:613 : internal error End of file from monitor
