Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Updated Red Hat Satellite to 5.6 recently, after upgrading, PXE boot installation for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4 doesn't work whereas it works for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3 as expected.
  • When the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4 boots with PXE, it throws an error like below.
FATAL : Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.32-358.el6.x86_64/modules.dep: No such File or Directory
ERROR : writeDisabledNetInfo failure: 1
INFO : getting kickstart file
ERROR : no network devices in choose network device!
ERROR : no network drivers for doing kickstart
ERROR : unable to bring up network
  • The kickstart installation stops when the server tries to download the kickstart file from the Satellite Server, because the network is not working as above.
  • When the same kickstart file is used after changing the Operating System from RHEL 6.4 to 6.3, the installation is working.

Environment

  • Red Hat Network Satellite or Proxy 5.6
