Blocked or stalled lvm commands in a cluster running clvmd but new lvm commands complete successfully in RHEL 5

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • Old lvs or other lvm commands are seen in ps and have been stuck for days, but new lvm commands complete without issue
  • We have been experiencing hangs on shutdown on RHEL 5.9 servers running Red Hat Cluster, and have narrowed the problem down to a hung lvs command spawned by the LVM monitor.
# ps aux|grep lvs
