Running "sudo su -" successfully still causes the pam_tally2 fail count to increase.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When user do "sudo su -" and enter password for authentication, it allows the sudo access but it increase the failure count by 1.
  • I tried putting a bad password and it also increase the counter by 1 (so doesn't matter good or bad password and only doing sudo su - will increase the counter by 1).

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • pam_tally2
