How to create HTTP web server for Openshift Container Platform 4 using NGINX on bastion host under VMware infrastructure.

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

To enable the deployment of Openshift Container Platform 4, a virtual machine has to be provisioned to run the OpenShift installation steps and host an HTTP Server. This VM can be as well the bastion node at the same time. The bastion node is connected to the OpenShift logical switch, firewall and NAT rules configured to allow SSH access from the jump-server or remote device.

The bastion node can use Red Hat Enterprise Linux or any other O.S, and it is used to host the scripts, files, and tools to provision the bootstrap, control-plane, and compute nodes. After the deployment, it's recommended to keep the bastion node as an administrative node for the cluster.

Environment

  • Openshift Container Platform 4 [OCP]
  • VMware vCenter 6-7. [ESX]
