Issue

  • Ghostscript 8.70 generates ppm with improper font spacing for some pdf documents. This was not the case with ghostscript 8.15.
  • This problem is also seen when the ImageMagick convert program is used to manipulate pdf files, since it uses ghostscript for processing.
  • ghostscript command used:
> gs -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE -dNOPROMPT -dMaxBitmap=500000000 -dAlignToPixels=0 -dGridFitTT=0 "-sDEVICE=ppmraw" -dTextAlphaBits=4 -dGraphicsAlphaBits=4 "-r72x72"  "-sOutputFile=example-out.ppm" "-fexample_005.pdf"

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 with ghostscript-8.70-6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 with ghostscript-8.70-11
