Unable to boot the RHEL 5.9 virtual machine after migrating from HyperV 2008 to HyperV 2012
Issue

After migrating the RHEL 5.9 virtual machine from HyperV 2008 to HyperV 2012, vm is unable to boot, and following errors are observed on console at the time of booting:
Unable to access resume device (LABEL=SWAP-hda2) mount: could not find filesystem '/dev/root' setuproot: moving /dev failed: no such file or directory setuproot: error mounting /proc: no such file or directory setuproot: error mounting /sys: no such file or directory switchroot: mount failed: no such file or directory kernel panic - no syncing: attempted to kill init!
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.9
- kernel 2.6.18-348 and later
- Microsoft Hyper-V 2012
