Why does ypwhich command sometimes return the name of slave NIS server instead of master NIS server ?

Issue

  • While executing ypwhich command on a NIS client, sometime it returns the name of Master server but sometimes it gives the name of Slave server. Is this a configuration issue with NIS server?

  • Even if ypwhich executes very frequently, the output may be different. Why does ypwhich show different results?
