How do I configure Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 to send numeric UID/GIDs while using NFSv4?

Issue

  • I am using an NFSv4 client but the application or infrastructure that I use does not accept the original users' UID/GIDs. How can I configure the NFSv4 client to accept this?
  • I would like to configure the NFSv4 client to send numeric UID/GIDs not user@domain for OWNER and OWNER_GROUP.

Environment

  • NFS client
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3
    • kernel ≥ 2.6.32-279.el6
  • NFS server
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5
    • kernel ≥ 2.6.32-431.el6
