Issue

There are a number of sections of kernel error, "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs disables this message."
/var/log/messages contains several "INFO: task xxx blockd for more than 120 seconds" messages just before my server rebooted.

Environment

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (RHEL5)
- Issue observed on kernel-2.6.18-274.12.1.el5. It is currently unknown if other kernels are affected.
Ext3 filesystems

Unconfirmed Environmental Variables:

Server may be an Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) node.
Server may be under memory pressure.
