[LVS] nanny crashed without failing over to another node.

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • One of the nanny process is killed or shutdown.. LVSD detects it and stop all Virtual Service.
  • lvsd goes in to defunct state
  • Does not restart or reload pulse
  • All the Virtual Service are stopped and service does not failover

  • /var/log/messages:

    nanny[13315]: [inactive] shutting down 10.x.x.135:333 due to connection failure
lvs[13261]: nanny died! shutting down lvs
lvs[13261]: shutting down virtual service HTTPS_443

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
    • piranha-0.8.4-19.el5.x86_64
  • Red Hat Enterprise 6
    • piranha-0.8.6-4.el6_5.2 (contains fix)
  • Linux Virtual Server
