DB connectivity Planning with OpenShift.

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • I would like to have some pointers how Tomcat (Jboss EWS) cartridge can talk to Oracle DB using both thin and thick clients.
    • I am looking to provid the Oracle JDBC driver by installing Oracle client software directly on OpenShift nodes and configureing the TNS configuration. Tomcat or other clients can use jars provided in lib folder and include in their PATH and connect using TNS entries.
    • We also want to give flexibility to clients so that clients can include Oracle JDBC driver directly into their application and connect required database using thin client mechanism syntax (hostname:port@database). This gives more flexibility to developers and choose latest version of JDCB driver and connect without infra help or support. I need help here how to bundle Oracle JDBC driver with code and connect without any other drivers.
