nsslapd-errorlog-level of 65536 caused directory server to crash and it was unable to restart.

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • When setting the nsslapd-errorlog-level to 65536 on a running dirsrv instance in an IPA environment. Directory server crashed and was unable to restart.
  • Doing the following on a running dirsrv instance in IPA 3.0 cause directory server to crash and was unable to start. We eventually changed it to 8192 for debugging purposes. See parent ticket.
ldapmodify -x -D "cn=directory manager" -w password
dn: cn=config
changetype: modify
add: nsslapd-errorlog-level
nsslapd-errorlog-level: 65536
