Why do I get "Unrecognised LVM device" when create a physical volume?
Issue
- When creating a physical volume using the command
pvcreateyou encounter the error: "Unrecognised LVM device" - lvm does not recognise
/dev/vx/dmp/*disk and gives below error:
/dev/vx/dmp/emcX: Skipping: Unrecognised LVM device type 201
/dev/vx/dmp/emcX: Skipping (sysfs)
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
- lvm2
