JMS cluster split leaving uncomsumed messages in the database in JBoss EAP

Issue

  • After a problem with our JMS cluster we noticed that the JBoss Messaging database had tons of messages in the JBM_MSG_REF referenced by CHANNEL_ID values which were not present in the JBM_POSTOFFICE anymore. So they were somehow lost in the database.  How can this happen and how can I get the messages back in the system?
