Unable to deploy RedHat AMI to Amazon EC2 cloud

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Amazon Ec2 Cloud access

Issue

  • Trying to deploy ami-acfd17c5 to an Amazon Web Services EC2 instance gives the following error message :

    Not authorized for images: [ari-12fd177b]

Resolution

  • It appears that instead of the EBS-backed images, the old AKI/ARI images are used. The image used is incorrect for the account privileges and the EBS backed starter images shoule be used instead.

Diagnostic Steps

  • To deploy a RHEL AMI in ec2 and avail Red Hat support one needs to have Red Hat Cloud Access subscription. Please see : http://www.redhat.com/solutions/cloud/amazon/
