Internal error: Attempt to unlock unlocked VG in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5

Issue

  •   When incrementing the size of LV, receiving the following errors:

    [root@plxps01 /]# vgextend vg_app  /dev/sdb
  Internal error: Volume Group vg_app was not unlocked
  Device /dev/sdb not found (or ignored by filtering).
  Unable to add physical volume '/dev/sdb' to volume group 'vg_app'.
  Internal error: Attempt to unlock unlocked VG vg_app.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 Update 5

  • lvm2-2.02.56-8.el5_5.4
