  • /proc/meminfo shows the majority of memory usage is in slab (either SReclaimable or SUnreclaimable)
  • System shows memory pressure symptoms including but not limited to:
    • High memory usage
    • Potential increase in swap activity
    • Increase in major faults as seen in SAR
    • Increase in direct or indirect page scanning as seen in SAR (listed under pgscank/s for indirect scanning and pgscand/s for direct scanning)
    • Low reclaim rate as seen in SAR (under %vmeff)
  • slabtop and /proc/slabinfo show a large amount of memory used by dentry slab objects
