RHEL RPM support, backporting policy

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • RHEL4 RPM support
  • Backporting packages, policy

What is the level of support that RHEL4 gets when it comes to RPMs available on the Redhat channels. It appears that some applications
have RPMs made available (e.g. Kerberos) while others do not. I would like to make a request of RPM packages for certain applications.
The main goal of getting these packages online are to address security vulnerabilities.

For example, the app 'bzip2' has version 1.05 available on the downloads page for RHEL6, but only version 1.02 is available for RHEL4.
Am I able to request such packages for my RHEL4 system? Packages I'm interested in currently include:

    bzip2
    wireshark
