Receive "Cannot assign requested address" error starting JON Agent when invalid Agent host name, IP address, or TCP port are provided

  • I just installed the JON Agent and am receiving the below error when trying to start it:
    Failed to start the Cannot assign requested address
            at Method)
            at org.jboss.remoting.transport.socket.SocketServerInvoker.createServerSocket(
            at org.jboss.remoting.transport.socket.SocketServerInvoker.start(
            at org.jboss.remoting.transport.Connector.start(
            at org.rhq.enterprise.communications.ServiceContainer.setupServerConnector(
            at org.rhq.enterprise.communications.ServiceContainer.start(
            at org.rhq.enterprise.communications.ServiceContainer.start(
            at org.rhq.enterprise.agent.AgentMain.startCommServices(
            at org.rhq.enterprise.agent.AgentMain.start(
            at org.rhq.enterprise.agent.AgentMain.main(
    Agent will be restarted soon to see if the failure condition cleared up
  • Agent fails to start due to "Cannot assign requested address"
