How to encrypt the password for LDAP configuration in EPP 5 / JPP 6?

Issue

We have set up EPP 5 with LDAP. But we had to put the plain username and password into the picketlink*.xml configuration file, but I want to base64/md5-hash the password. I think, a security domain is the right way to do this, but I don't know how to do this in combination with GateIn.
