integrate powerman with RHEL clustering as a supported fence-agent

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • Integrate powerman with pacemaker as a supported fence-agent similar to how it was integrated with heartbeat (/usr/lib64/stonith/plugins/external/powerman).
  • Powerman is being used along with heartbeat (stonith) to facilitate failover for the nodes powering the Luster storage subsystems.
    • Lustre failover requires power control and management capability to verify that a failed node is shut down before I/O is directed to the failover node.
    • This avoids double-mounting the two nodes, and the risk of unrecoverable data corruption.
    • A variety of power management tools will work, but two packages that are commonly used with Lustre are STONITH and PowerMan.
    • See Creating a Failover Environment for more detail.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
