Why does the kernel provide misleading warnings about missing modules?
Issue
- When kmods are installed and a new kernel is installed or updated, misleading warnings will be generated during kernel installation.
- This is dangerous because it is very hard for users to distinguish this harmless case from a case where a necessary driver is actually missing.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
