irqbalance package cannot be updated due to kernel version. How can I solve this problem ?

  • I get the following error messages when running yum update. 
Error: Package: 2:irqbalance-1.0.4-4.el6_4.x86_64 (rhel-x86_64-server-6)
           Requires: kernel >= 2.6.32-279
           Installed: kernel-2.6.32-131.21.1.el6.x86_64 (installed)
               kernel = 2.6.32-131.21.1.el6
               kernel = 2.6.32-131.21.1.el6
  • Which kernel package is necessary for NUMA environments with irqbalance-1.0.4-4.el6_4 package ?

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • irqbalance-1.0.4-4.el6_4
  • Kernels prior to kernel-2.6.32-279.el6
  • NUMA Environments
