How can I shrink the size of a tablespace in my Red Hat Network Satellite database?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • customer went through a cleanup of old data on their RHN Satellite server

  • now that the data is cleaned up need a way to reduce the size of the  DATA_TBS and UNDO_TBS tablespaces to free up local disk space

  • enlarging the filesystem is not a viable option

  • Is there any way to shrink space on Satellite server database?
  • The embedded Oracle database on our Satellite server currently takes up over 28GB of disk space.  Each backup consumes over 6.5G, compressed.   Is there anything I can do to clean this up, so that the database is  not so large?
