Smartcard service is not autostarted when connecting to newer Windows systems

Issue

  • Unable to connect to Windows Server 2016 using xfreedrdp with SmartCard (PIV Card). There is no problem accessing the Windows Server 2008 system. If the user is not using SmartCard, then he is able to access Windows Server 2016.

  • The following errors were encountered when connecting from RHEL8 to Windows 2016 Server:

$ xfreerdp --no-nla --plugin rdpsnd --plugin rdpdr --data scard:"" -- SERVER
loading plugin rdpsnd
loading plugin rdpdr
connected to SERVER:3389
registered device #1: SCARD (type=32 id=1)

"No valid certificates were found on this smart card.  Please try another smart card or contact your administrator."
