A console shows "Message from syslogd@ at ..." repeatedly.

Issue

  • The following messages are shown from a console. The messages are repeated.
    Message from syslogd@mu-me01-icr02 at Jul  4 11:10:02 ...
     localhost Host Loopback:BM-^W^S@@^M!X
    
    
    Message from syslogd@ at Web Oct 15 20:00:03 2010
    localhost last message repeated 50 times
    
    
    Message from syslogd@ at Web Oct 15 20:00:04 2010
    localhost last message repeated 50 times
    
    Message from syslogd@ at Web Oct 15 20:00:05 2010
    localhost last message repeated 50 times
    
  • Then following messages are outputed to /var/log/messages.
    Oct 15 19:49:35 localhost kernel: EDAC MC0: UE row 0, channel-a= 0 channel-b= 1 labels "-": NON-FATAL recoverable (Branch=0 DRAM-Bank=0 Buffer ID = 0 RDWR=Read RAS=0 CAS=0 NON-FATAL recoverable Err=0x2000 (FB-DIMM Configuration Write error on first attempt))
    
  • Also it is noticed that messages (non emergency messages are repeated)

    Message from syslogd@sateph01 at Feb  8 14:31:51 ...
     sudo[3803277]:pam_unix(sudo:session): session opened for user root by (uid=0)
    
    Message from syslogd@sateph01 at Feb  8 14:31:52 ...
     sudo[3803277]:pam_unix(sudo:session): session closed for user root
