"virt-v2v" fails with "Failed to connect to any vmchannel implementation"

Issue

  • "virt-v2v" fails with following error when converting a XEN guest or KVM guest

    linux commmand line: panic=1 console=ttyS0 udevtimeout=300 noapic acpi=off printk.time=1 cgroup_disable=memory selinux=0 guestfs_vmchannel=tcp:169.254.2.2:56896 guestfs_verbose=1 TERM=xterm
    
    vmchannel: tcp:169.254.2.2:56896
    connect: Network is unreachable
    
    Failed to connect to any vmchannel implementation.
    vmchannel: tcp:169.254.2.2
    
    This is a fatal error and the appliance will now exit.
