Cluster services and qdiskd stop working after updating corosync/cman but before cman has been restarted in RHEL 6

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • We were updating cman and corosync while a node was active and were going to restart qdiskd to take advantage of new functionality. After the update and stopping qdiskd, it would not start back up:
Jul 2 17:09:40 node1 fenced[122719]: node_history_cluster_remove no nodeid 0
Jul 2 17:10:46 node1 qdiskd[20295]: Configuration unavailable; cannot start
Jul 2 17:10:46 node1 qdiskd[20295]: Configuration failed
  • After updating cman or corosync while a node was still active, services stopped working afterwards

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 with the High Availability Add On
  • Updating cman from 3.0.12.1-23.el6 to 3.0.12.1-49.el6
  • Updating corosync from 1.4.1-4.el6 to 1.4.1-15.el6
  • Updating the packages while the node is still active
