why does my glusterfs client hang on an RHEV 3.0/3.1 guest when using Virtio_net network interface?

Issue

  • Not able to access GlusterFS client mount, ls works and cat a file hangs.
$ ls /mount_point
<...file_list...>

$ cat /mount_point/<file>
<...hangs...>
  • We are also seeing continuous packet drops from this node through ifconfig output.

Environment

Red Hat Storage Server - 2.0
Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization - 3.0 and 3.1
Red Hat Enterprise Linux - 6.3
