Why virt-v2v asks for password two or more times while converting a Xen guest to KVM or RHEV?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • virt-v2v asks for the root password of the source server two or more times for successful operation. If the virtual machine has just one hard disk attached to it, password is asked two times. If it has two hard disks attached, password is asked for three times. How can I work around this?

Eg,

# virt-v2v -f /etc/virt-v2v.conf -ic xen+ssh://root@<ip.of.source.server> -op test <name of guest>
root@ip.of.source.server's password:
root@ip.of.source.server's password:

  • A password is required just once for virt-v2v to migrate a guest from  *VMware*  to  KVM or RHEV.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
