Issue

  • After an in-place upgrade logging in to the machine was not possible anymore, and the content of /etc/pam.d was showing several empty files, similar to the following:

    [...]

    -rwxr-xr-x. 1 609 Nov 12 23:23 password-auth-local.preupg
    [...]
    -rw-r--r--. 1 0 Apr 8 06:16 system-auth-ac
    -rwxr-xr-x. 1 1.3K Apr 8 21:24 system-auth-ac.preupg

    -rwxr-xr-x. 1 614 Nov 12 23:23 system-auth-local.preupg
