After NFS server was restarted NFS client mountpoints became crossed in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
Issue
- After restarting the NFS server, NFS clients appeared to mount shares that were not associated with the exports the clients were supposed to be mounting.
- NFS clients saw incorrect data under NFS shares following an NFS server reboot.
- An example of this behavior seen on two NFS clients NFS mounts can be found below:
Client A ClientB
/dir /dir
/dir/directory1 /dir/directory2
following the reboot:
ClientA ClientB
/dir /dir
/dir/directory2 /dir/directory1
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 acting as NFS server
- Using LVM as back-end storage for NFS shares
