xinetd service will not start on RHEL 4

Issue

  • We are unable to start the xinetd service.

      [root@examplehost ~]# service xinetd start
      [root@examplehost ~]#
    
  • We are expecting to see the standard "OK" output.

      [root@examplehost ~]# service xinetd start
      Starting xinetd:                                           [  OK  ]
      [root@examplehost ~]#
