SSL error 'SSL routines', 'SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO' when Satelite syncing channels

Issue

  • Getting the following error when trying to satellite-sync.

    [root@XXXXX ~]# satellite-sync --list-channels
    08:55:59 Red Hat Network Satellite - live synchronization

    08:55:59    debug/output level: 1
    08:56:00
    08:56:00
    ERROR: there was a problem synchronizing the information.
        Error message: [('SSL routines', 'SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO', 'unknown
        protocol')]
    

    or

    [root@XXXXX ~]# satellite-sync --no-ssl --list-channels
    08:57:09 Red Hat Network Satellite - live synchronization
    08:57:09    url: http://satellite.rhn.redhat.com
    08:57:09    debug/output level: 1
    08:57:09
    08:57:09
    ERROR: there was a problem synchronizing the information.
        Error message: (104, 'Connection reset by peer')
    
  • The satellite-sync fails with error Error: [('SSL routines', 'SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO', 'unknown protocol')].
