[OpenStack] Support for a common HP3PAR for two environments running different versions of Red Hat OpenStack Platform

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenStack Platform 13
  • Red Hat OpenStack Platform 10

Issue

  • Whether a common HP3PAR will be able to support two environments running different versions of RHOSP, RHOSP 10 and RHOSP 13 to be specific, after upgrading the staging environment

Resolution

  • What we should check is, if current firmware is okay to use with latest(RHOSP13) HP3Par cinder code.

For RHOSP 13 :

/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/cinder/volume/drivers/hpe/hpe_3par_fc.py (inside the container hpe3parcinder/hpe3parcinder )
  • This driver requires 3.1.3 or later firmware on the 3PAR array, using the 4.x version of the hpe3parclient.

From RHOSP 10 :

/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/cinder/volume/drivers/hpe/hpe_3par_fc.py
  • This driver requires 3.1.3 firmware on the 3PAR array, using the 4.x version of the hpe3parclient.

Please open a ticket with Red Hat Technical Support for any further queries.

Also engage with HP3PAR vendor to know if their hardware will support it.
