Windows VMs running on a RHEV host freeze with "virtio_ioport_write unexpected address 0x13" error in qemu log

Issue

  • During a load test on a RHEL-based RHEV host, the Windows virtual machines appeared to freeze with an error message in the /var/log/libvirt/qemu/guestName.log (where guestName is the name of the Virtual Machine shown in the RHEV Admin Portal). The error message is:

    virtio_ioport_write: unexpected address 0x13 value 0x0

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) 3.1
  • Guest: Windows 7
