hypervkvpd starts automatically if installed, even if the hardware doesn't support it

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • The hypervkvpd service (Hyper-V Key Value Pair Daemon) starts automatically if the package is installed, regardless of whether the underlying hardware supports the feature. The package is installed by default as a part of the "Virtualization" package group, so it'll be installed on most hosts targeted at virtualization.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
