Not able to mount the NFS share and it results in "mount(2): Permission denied"

Issue

  • Not able to mount NFS share and it results in "mount(2): Permission denied". NFS export share has permission set to 750 and the ownership is set to a specific user and group
ls -ldh /export/folder/
drwxr-x---. 3 user user 4.0K May 22 22:42 /export/folder
  • Mounting fails
mount -v -t nfs -o nfsvers=4 XXX:/XXX/XXX /mnt
mount.nfs: timeout set for Thu May 16 14:40:59 2013
mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'nfsvers=4,addr=XXXX,clientaddr=XXX'
mount.nfs: mount(2): Permission denied
mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting XXX:/XXX/XXX

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • NFS client using mount version 4
