Performed fdisk change on the wrong disk with LVM and need to undo the changes

Issue

  • Ran fdisk on the wrong device and created a partition, where previously there was no partitions.
  • The device in question was part of a logical volume.
  • The command vgs now produces an error.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
