Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • Can I change  the default directory in which the core will be dumped  is  /var/crash/$HOST-$DATE  to a directory which has a fixed name?
  • We know  that   the default directory in which the vmcore will be dumped  is  /var/crash/$HOST-$DATE  when we setup kdump
  • We also know that  we change the base directory /var/cash in the /etc/kdump.conf but  not change a subdirecotory ( $HOST-$DATE )
  • We want  to change a subdirecotory ( $HOST-$DATE ) to a directory which has a fixed name.     Can we do that?
