Why does anaconda activate the network device from kickstart network line even without --activate option in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 onwards?

Issue

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.6 installation through a kickstart file activates the network device just after reading the kickstart file network command without --activate
network --bootproto static --onboot=yes --ip=192.168.122.101 --netmask=255.255.255.0 --gateway=192.168.0.1 --nameserver=192.168.122.1 --hostname=test.example.com
  • Till Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2, this was working as expected?
  • Why does anaconda activate the network device without even mention of --activate ?
