"getent -s ldap password" times out in Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Issue

When running "
getent -s ldap passwd" the command eventually times out, not reporting any results, regardless of whether the LDAP service is configured or not. -
"
strace getent -s ldap passwd" shows that the command is sleeping 64+32+16+8+4s = 124s= 2m4s, before timing out
