VLAN networking performance is bad when the parent interface is a bond or team and NetworkManager is being used

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • At boot and after a service network restart, the VLAN interfaces do not have the expected offloading features enabled.
  • If a VLAN interface is manually brought down (destroyed) and back up (created) with nmcli con up/down then the new VLAN interface has the expected offloading features enabled and the performance is good.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • NetworkManager
