multipath command output report errors: path not correctly configured for failover

Issue

  • Why multipath devices are marked as failed?
  • multipath -ll shows below error messages :
# multipath -ll 
sda: checker msg is "emc_clariion_checker: Path not correctly configured for failover" 
sdb: checker msg is "emc_clariion_checker: Path not correctly configured for failover" 
sdc: checker msg is "emc_clariion_checker: Path not correctly configured for failover" 
sdd: checker msg is "emc_clariion_checker: Path not correctly configured for failover" 
sde: checker msg is "emc_clariion_checker: Logical Unit is unbound or LUNZ" 
sdg: checker msg is "emc_clariion_checker: Logical Unit is unbound or LUNZ"
  • New LUNs from an EMC VNX5500 are connected and visible to multipath. Upon reboot, the LUNs are not available until a scsi-rescan is performed, and then are not available to LVM until lvchange -ay is performed. This has to be done on each reboot. Following messages observed in /var/log/messages:
