How do I reduce and predict the amount of overhead on an ext3 filesystem?
Issue
- A LUN was connected to RHEL5 server
- After creating a logical volume on the LUN the size of the volume is still as expected
- After creating the filesystem with the "mkfs.ext3 -m 0" command the mounted filesystem has a smaller total size than before. The available space of the filesystem is even smaller than the total size.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
- ext3 filesystem
