System reboots randomly. The last message seen on the logs is "kernel: recvmsg bug: copied X seg X"

Issue

  • RHEL 5 system reboots randomly. Prior to the reboot following message is seen in /var/log/messages
May  1 18:33:55 XXXX kernel: recvmsg bug: copied 8A9D2439 seq 8A9D24AC
May  1 18:33:55 XXXX kernel: KERNEL: assertion (tp->copied_seq == tp->rcv_nxt || (flags & (MSG_PEEK | MSG_TRUNC))) failed at net/ipv4/tcp.c (1257)
May  1 18:53:36 XXXX syslogd 1.4.1: restart.
