Why do I get "multicast and node address families differ" when starting cman in RHEL 5?

Issue

  • I have specified a multicast address in my cluster. When starting cman I get this error:
Multicast and node address families differ
/usr/sbin/cman_tool : aisexec daemon didn't start

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 with the High Availability Add On
  • A <multicast addr> specified in /etc/cluster/cluster.conf
